Writers

Writers belong to the Editorial Portfolio and are part of the process from the content brainstorming, research, and interviewing featured individuals

 

Lazy Faire Writers are responsible for:

- Brainstorming. Attend and contribute to monthly brainstorming meetings

- Producing high-quality content as per content Editors’ allocations. Writing experience and technical skills are a must. Being a grammar nerd is an asset.

- Deadline-oriented work. Deadlines are essential so each Lazy Faire issue can hit the stands on time, successful candidates must have excellent time management and prioritization skills

- Communication. Not only though your writing, but also with your team. Feedback is crucial to Lazy Faire’s growth as a student group and magazine, and writers should expect to receive feedback from numerous sources (i.e. Content Editors, other exec, students, and anyone else who might asks to be on the cover).

Designers

No matter how good our content is, what keeps the issues flying off the shelves is the ‘packaging’ of the magazine - so whether you're a designer fanatic or a closet graphic designer, this is the position for you! Designers take the written content and create a slick, appealing and easy-to-read design for each article.

 

Designers are responsible for:

- Designing! You will work under the direction of the VP Art & Design with Adobe InDesign to ensure designs are consistent with the whole magazine.

- Attending and contributing to monthly brainstorming meetings

- Deadline-oriented work. Deadlines are essential so each Lazy Faire issue can hit the stands on time, successful candidates must have excellent time management and prioritization skills

- Misc: You may also be asked to create promotional materials for Lazy Faire’s various initiatives on an ad hoc basis.

*Preference may be given to Designers with some prior experience with InDesign and/or Photoshop, but no previous experience is required.

Photographers

Whether photography is your passion, hobby, or a side business, this is your chance to have your work published and build up your portfolio! Our photographers are responsible for coordinating with our writers and taking high-quality photos of our interviewees for each issue of the magazine.

 

In addition to interviewees, photographers may be asked to take photos for promotional purposes, events and general stock photos. Photographers are expected to attend monthly brainstorming meetings and contribute to each issue. No experience is necessary, but familiarity with Photoshop and/or other photo editing software is an asset.
